DeKalb Early College Academy, Mountain Industrial Center: Tucker, Georgia

DeKalb Early College Academy is a small high school which has formed a joint venture with a local college to enable students to complete their high school diploma while simultaneously receiving college credits toward an associates degree. The school was founded to educate students who do not excel in a traditional high school setting and do not perform well on standardized tests. The school initially enrolled 100 students and will add 100 ninth grade students each year for a maximum of 400 students.

For this project, Hogan Construction provided design-build interior construction services to renovate a 30,551 square foot former supermarket into the highly-functional educational facility. The one-story steel structure houses 12 classrooms, one computer lab, one biology lab and a media center.

During construction this facility was operational, conducting bus driver training. Hogan coordinated interior and exterior work areas with the existing occupants.
