Base-Buildings, Construction Management at Risk, LEED, Municipal

Clarence Brown Conference Center: Cartersville, Georgia

Based on extensive experience with Construction Management at-Risk project delivery, LEED, and public assembly projects, Hogan Construction Group was selected to be this project’s construction manager – from 14 other submitting firms.

Named in honor of the County’s Commissioner, Clarence Brown, this 43,515 square-foot facility will be host to social and business functions. The building was designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s requirements for a Silver Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. Hogan used cast-in-place concrete spread footings and a structural steel frame to construct the facility. The building’s envelope consists of masonry, architectural precast, cast stone, cultured stone, storefront, curtainwall, and standing seam metal roofing.

Some of the technological features include integrated video-conferencing, telepresence, content archival/publishing, and distance learning opportunities, making this an ideal classroom extension for area community colleges. In addition, there are nine classroom/meeting rooms, a 300-seat lecture hall, and an executive boardroom. Interactive whiteboards, projection systems, additional videoconference sites, large format film presentation screens, and annotation and assistive listening capabilities found in these areas will foster appeal to a broad corporate audience.

The 20-acre property features a beautifully landscaped outdoor pavilion and an amphitheater. The facility is designed to host up to 17 different functions simultaneously. The main ballroom is 12,824 square-feet and can be divided into four separate spaces. The ballroom alone accommodates up to 1,400 people. The conference center will be home to the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau who will be operating the facility.

“We are really happy with their [Hogan’s] knowledge of LEED certification,” said Ellen Archer, executive director, Cartersville-Bartow County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She went on to note, “It was one of the cleanest construction sites I’ve seen.”

Client Quote:

“The way a contractor finishes out a building is one of the ways I judge a good job – how they handle punch lists and the follow up. Our experience with Hogan has been really good. All in all, this was a pretty easy job from our perspective.”
