Mike Tomlin – Chief Estimator

Mike Tomlin

Mike Tomlin is well suited and dedicated to his role as Chief Estimator.  He is enthusiastic about what he does, enjoys it and relishes the challenge of “building a project in his mind” as he works to minimize costs and establish priorities.  During preconstruction, he meets weekly with the Owner and Architect to develop and revise pricing options, provide value analysis and discuss constructability issues.  Mike knows the importance and impact the accuracy of his work has on project success and achieving the Owner’s goals.

In addition to personally estimating more than 35 projects during the last 12 months, Mike oversaw and reviewed all estimates completed by his Department.  Under his leadership, his team estimated more than 90 projects of various types during that same time frame.   Next, especially with projects that have a lengthy preconstruction phase, Mike tackles the Master Project Schedule to establish milestone dates.  He meticulously tracks critical events to prevent any schedule lag or delays,

At home Mike sometimes replaces his “Estimating Hat” with a “Chef’s Hat” and is known for his Southern cooking extravaganzas and grand family feasts.   At Christmas he may prepare a fried turkey, which could be a wild turkey that he has hunted himself, or on Fourth of July the faire may be barbeque ribs with corn on the cob  Whatever Mike serves up to the sometimes 50++ family members, it is guaranteed to be mouthwatering and delicious.
